The ranking is based on the official statistics of crimes committed by local governments, even though Middle Eastern cities were not included in the report, such as the New York, Daily News says.

For years, San Pedro Sula had the world highest rate of homicides, surpassing Mexico Ciudad Juarez. It got on the list of most dangerous cities in the world for the second time with a rate of 169 intentional homicides per 100,000 people – an average of more than 3 murders a day.
